This Ankeny basement started out as an unfinished space in a new construction home. After a few years living in their home and expanding their family, the homeowners were ready to add more usable square footage. This basement remodel included the addition of an entertainment area, wet bar with full wine storage, two additional guest bedrooms, guest bathroom, and an exercise room. The focal point for this project was the entertainment zone which included an electric fireplace, stone accent wall, and custom built-ins. The wet bar serves as an ideal space to gather with friends and family, with every appliance needed for hosting, including a dishwasher and microwave. The double wine fridges and ample cabinetry storage are an added luxury. A set of four double door built-ins, made of painted maple wood, were added along the South wall for additional game and toy storage. With a large picture window and surrounding floating shelves, this hardly feels like a basement. Our goal for this basement finish was to complement the main level which is accessed by an open stairway. Choosing similar interior materials like luxury vinyl plank flooring, Sherwin Williams paint, and stacked stone was important to ensure the home felt cohesive from floor to floor.
